Sevilla FC signs a collaboration agreement with the Future Falcons Program

The agreement was formalized in the presence of the program director, Ghassan Felemban, and the president of the Spanish club, José María del Nido Carrasco. Under the terms of the agreement, Future Falcons players will have the opportunity to participate in trials with Sevilla FC. The collaboration will also extend to coaches and executives, who will benefit from internships at the Spanish club. Additionally, the agreement includes support for technical and medical services, as well as access to Sevilla FC’s facilities and training grounds. The collaboration will allow Sevilla FC scouts and coaches to be present at the Al Abtal Cup, in which the Spanish club will also compete.

Saudi women’s national team assistant coach Ahod Aamari recently participated in an internship with Sevilla FC through the program this past August. Sevilla FC is one of the most important clubs in Spain, having competed in La Liga for 78 seasons, winning the league title once and the Copa del Rey five times. In European competitions, Sevilla holds the record for UEFA Europa League titles, with seven wins, along with a UEFA Super Cup title. Romeo Jozak, the technical director of the Future Falcons program, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, stating that it will open new paths for program players and staff, especially given Sevilla’s status as a prominent club in both Spanish and European football.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and its president, Mr. Yasser Al-Misehal, for their strong support and ongoing oversight, which has enabled the program to achieve several of its goals aligned with the Federation’s vision. Jozak added, “The players and technical team of the program will be able to gain invaluable experience at a renowned Spanish club like Sevilla, whose academy is highly regarded for its ability to develop young talent. Through this partnership, they will participate in training sessions and play matches, as well as receive development opportunities for coaches and administrators to broaden their experience.”

Open day session at the Goalkeeping Academy

The Sevilla FC Innovation Center has launched an initiative called the “Sevilla FC Goalkeeping Academy,” designed to provide comprehensive training for football goalkeepers. This project covers technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects, with the goal of improving both the athletic performance and personal development of goalkeepers.

After the initial weeks, which were reserved for registered participants, an open house session was held, and it was a great success. The academy, based on Sevilla FC’s methodology, is aimed at goalkeepers from the pre-benjamín (U8) category to senior level, and is open to individuals, clubs, schools, and semi-professional players.

The academy focuses on both the individual and collective development of goalkeepers, with a comprehensive approach involving club coaches and support from the Sevilla FC R&D Department. Although a few spots are still available, those interested can find more information on the Sevilla FC Innovation Center website.

The seminar series on physical and sports performance at UPO has concluded

During April and May, three seminars on physical and sports performance were held at the facilities of the Pablo de Olavide University, led by the Head of Physical and Sports Performance R&D at Sevilla FC and PhD candidate Carmen Serrano Cañadillas.

In the seminars, the main results of the latest articles published in high-impact journals (indexed in the Journal Citation Report – JCR) in the field of “Sport Science” were presented and discussed, primarily with the aim of analyzing or improving physical and sports performance.

During the first seminar, held on April 11th, the results of articles published in March were presented. Out of all the reviewed publications, 22 articles were selected. One of the initial topics addressed in this first seminar was the role of the “Sport Scientist.” Questions were raised about what a sport scientist is, what training and experience they should have, what tasks they should perform, and in which areas they should operate within the sports institution. Additionally, the seminar explored the degree of relationship a sport scientist should have with other professionals involved in the sports phenomenon, including coaches and athletes.

.

During the second seminar, held on April 25th, three fundamental topics were addressed: evaluation of physical and sports performance, the effect of endurance and repeated sprint training, and the effect of strength training. In the first block, three articles were used to first reflect on the necessity of evaluating athletes’ performance and then to examine the methods and means used in the evaluation processes, as well as the variables considered important for obtaining sufficient information on potential performance changes.

The third seminar was held on May 15th and covered different thematic blocks. During April, a significant number of studies were published related to quantifying the training and match load in football players. Another important topic to consider when scheduling the training load during a week is deciding when to introduce the rest session (MD+1 or MD+2) or how to manage the weekly training load between players who participate more in the match (starters) and those who participate less or not at all (non-starters).
